This past Saturday night Carmin Black of HALF allowed us to host the launch of the brand’s Fall jewelry line! The evening was perfect as ladies (and even a few gents :) turned out to delight their accessory senses and preview the custom collection. There were bite sized cupcakes, mini ice cream cones, fruity bites, bubbly sips and amongst the flickering candlelight, guests could place orders for their favorite HALF pieces. Mini Photoshoot Preview
So did I blink and miss the delightful, balmy days I usually associate with mid-June? I don’t know how many of you are experiencing the hyper-hot+humid east coast conditions but it feels more like sticky August to me! But it’s summer and what are you going to do but embrace the dewey glow right? There was no complaining at the docks as the Hallelu girls powered through the mini photo shoot yesterday afternoon. After 45 minutes of frolicking, however, the ladies felt more BBQ’d than beach beauties! More to come soon...

Despite a way too early flight from ILM, several hours of first day meetings (on west coast time) and LA traffic I wanted to fit in a quick buying trip update. Sleep was tempting yesterday but I was able to fend off the jetlag with a good dose of California sunshine (it magically hides puffy flighte...yes :) I finished the day with some style spotting and window drooling along some of my favorite Melrose avenues. I am loving the abundance of fringe, heavy metal accessories, sheer overlays and especially the chunky clogs…It’s going to be tough to decide what not to include in Hallelu shipments! Here are a few pictures from my west side ventures so far.

After accomplishing quite a bit all before noon I felt I could treat myself to a well needed break. So I discovered this adorable cafe and couldn't resist posting a few pics- if only for the sheer chic-ness of it! Between my mid-morning meetings the cafe was free of the breakfast crowds and a perfect spot for me to catch up and recoup for the afternoon. They also served up the prettiest yogurt and berry parfait I have ever seen....

Updates from the Front Lines of Summer Fashion
Catherine is hitting the fashion front lines this week, placing orders with her L.A. designers and suppliers. While she works to discover the latest "It" items for Hallelu shoppers and we wait for the stylish shipments to arrive, we thought we'd pass on some tips and hints on what is hot on the West Coast fashion front.
"Summer style is all about doing things in a fresh way, and the easiest way to do that is to incorporate color, especially with accessories," says Kwesi Blair, a senior associate at New York fashion-consulting firm Robert Burke Associates. Blair suggests adding fun, chunky necklaces and colorful shoes to closet staples. Shopbop.com's Ciepluch promotes pops of neon like a fuchsia or green for a tan projecting sizzling look. Simple summer tanks are still dramatic when paired with this season's creative patterns and textures.
Hallelu Favorite
Designers such as those at Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior ( CHDRF.PK - news - people ) and Junya Watanabe have set off another wild summer trend. Africana is hot: with tribal prints, silver metal chokers and bangles as arm candy. Even a simple black dress can be brought to life by adding a few wood and animal-print bangles, chunky stone sandals or colorful beaded belt. (Be on the lookout for these fantastic sandals in Hallelu next week!)
The overall new "it" item this summer is definitely the jumpsuit, a staple on Stella McCartney's and Proenza Schouler's runways. Jumpsuits this season range from Studio 54-ready looks to utilitarian rompers. Go ahead, be a risk taker and try this adorable and easy to wear summer staple. The jumpsuit can be layered over T-shirts or under jackets, dressed up or worn over a bikini and they are easy to pack for a weekend getaway! Fun
Watch out for the metal revival. Just about everything can be studded, zippered and spiked for a tough but sexy sizzling summer look. From belts to tops, jackets heels, gladiator sandals and bags. Hallelu Sponsors 2nd Annual "La Soiree Pamper Party" Charity Event

Hallelu partnered with a number of local beauty and fashion focused businesses at "La Soiree Pamper Party" last week to support Wilmington's local domestic violence shelter. Dirty Martini at Lumina Station hosted the evening of beauty, fun and shopping with several hundred of Wilmington's lovely ladies coming out to show their support. Attendees were treated to an indulgent sampling of savory treats from the Melting Pot, Brasserie and Macaroni Grill, wine sampling, discounted fashion and jewelry, massage, free beauty treatments, delectable swag and a bountiful raffle.
As a participating sponsor of the 2nd annual event, Catherine had a colorful array of Hallelu Spring dresses, and accessories available for sale at a hefty discount while our neighboring sponsor, Lavish Salon had a lineup of ladies waiting to receive a glamorous 15 minute make-over. For those who didn't know, you can stop into Lavish anytime and receive their magical 15 minute hair, or makeup, service for $15! Perfect for a special night out...Overall it was a fantastic event and a wonderful opportunity to show support for a very important cause. Hallelu Takes to the Field for Spring Fashion Shoot
Step behind the scenes with the Hallelu team as we go on location to shoot our lovely ladies in the season's sweetest looks!
The day was picture perfect for our outdoor organic-inspired fashion shoot! After 3 days of rain and wind, the sun had burst forth in radiant Spring style and the team had a revived excitement for the day ahead.
Hair and makeup was the first order of business. Our naturally stunning models, Maddie and Julie met Catherine at Beauty Bar for a "Boho-Glamour" makeover. Natasha and Jennifer, our trusted stylists performed their magic in under an hour. We were sent off with a flawless combination of mixed-up curls and polished updo's....

We headed out on location caravan style, following Joshua Curry's mobile photo studio/mini-van to a private farm in rural New Hanover County. Josh had driven the countryside for several days scouting for the perfect setting. We knew it would be an all-day shoot and we needed one setting with several different backdrops to accommodate our range of looks from rompers to bikinis.
Joshua knows his stuff and negotiated the use of a private farm complete with pasturing horses and broken down tractors. Yay! The energy escalated as we went off-road, kicking up dust with our 3 heavily loaded SUVs. We tuned in some rocking country on the satellite radio as our trusty photographer pulled to a stop beside the greenest, grassiest pasture these beach girls had seen in while! The dust settled and mamma nature's colors came into focus. The ice blue sky atop the expanse of ruffling deep green grass took away a momentary breath but the ladies were ready to frolic and pose. Joshua went to work setting up his mobile equipment, testing the sunlight and trying to outsmart the gusting wind which was determined to send his umbrella lighting sailing away into the horizon.
